“Dancing is like dreaming with your feet!”  ~ Constanze

DANCING IS ALWAYS FUN

AT THE EDGE

Creative Edge has been offering dance classes in Abbotsford for two decades!  At “The Edge” there are two large dance studios with sprung floors, classroom mirrors and a parent favorite, “one way mirrors” looking into  the dance studios.

All of our dance students are taught technique and choreography and they really look forward to showing off their moves during exciting performances we hold each year at the Abbotsford Arts Centre.

Below is a list and brief description of the types of dance classes we offer - from Ballet to hip hop!.

You can check out the schedule to see when each class runs in throughout the week.

DANCE CLASSES FOR AGE 3 & UP!

  • Jazz.
  • Hip Hop
  • Ballet (RAD)
  • Musical Theatre
  • Tap
  • Pre-dance
  • Lyrical
  • Acro
  • Recreational and Competitive

PRE-DANCE CLASSES

Pre-dance classes at Creative Edge are always fun for ages 3 to 5. Parents love to watch the kids through the one-way mirrors looking look so cute while attempting to learn a little “pre-ballet” and “pre-jazz”.

BALLET - LYRICAL

Our ballet program follows the Royal Academy of Dance curriculum. All ballet dance students are placed in RAD grade levels and ballet exams are available each year for those who are ready to progress with beauty and grace onto the next grade level.

HOP HOP - JAZZ - TAP

Hip Hop dance lessons are very popular, with the types of dance moves seen on today's music videos. No other formal dance training is required to busta move in our hip hop classes although competitive Hip Hop classes are available for the more experienced Hip Hop dancers!

Jazz and Tap classes are also offered for a broad range of ages, with an emphasis on technique, choreography and also using music the students really enjoy.

MUSICAL THEATRE

In our musical theatre class, dancers portray character in acting, song and dance. The choreography is very entertaining with its Broadway musical style.

COMPETITIVE CLASSES

Creative Edge offers competitive classes in Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre, Hiphop, Lryical and Ballet. These classes prepare intensively to compete at various competitions throughout the lower mainland.

WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING...

“Two years ago, when our daughter started competitive classes, she felt enormous pride that her team had received several gold medals.  The aspect of teamwork is very much emphasized, along with the sentiment that it is not about winning at the competitions, but about doing your best.  The camaraderie the children are taught toward the other competition dancers will serve them well as they grow, and transfer to other aspects of their lives.”

Lori,  Abbotsford, BC

“We have been at Creative Edge for five and a half years and have enjoyed a variety of programs.  From Junior Preschool and Music Makers (with our beloved Miss Simone), Preschool with the very enthusiastic fun and loving Miss Heather and Miss Kiley right through to the dance program, our girls have loved and learned from each of them.

We have thoroughly enjoyed the instruction offered in the ballet program taught by Miss Elizabeth.  Her grace, energy, enthusiasm and patience are evident in every class.  We found this very true in the predance program which introduces children at a young age (3 and 4) to various forms of dance with an emphasis in ballet.  The girls learned so much from Miss Elizabeth and her encouragement and love for the children has prompted my girls to continue with their ballet.  We will definitely be continuing with our lessons at Creative Edge!”

Kim Anderson, Abbotsford, BC

“I am a competitive dancer at The Edge , currently enrolled in ballet tap, jazz, lyrical, song and dance, modern, jazz technique, and musical theatre.

Creative Edge is like a second home to me, because of the amazing people that are within the school. They truly care, about each and every one of their students.

I have only been dancing for 4 years and In this short amount of time I have learned an incredible amount from the teachers.

Thanks to everybody at Creative Edge, I have dreams that I am determined to achieve later in life. I never would have gotten as far as I have without you. “

- Alexandra T, age 17, Abbotsford - dance student.

Elizabeth was born in Bandung, Indonesia. Her father is from Malaysia and her mother is a Chinese-Indonesian. Raised up in three different countries in Asia, she started her first Ballet class when she was 5 years old.

At the age of 9, Elizabeth was introduced to Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus and took her first RAD Ballet exam (Grade 3) and continued through Advance Levels of dance over the next nine years.

She began teaching at the age of 17 and at 19 became a professional dancer with Singapore Dance Theatre where over the next 5 years she performed with them, mostly Contemporary Dance.

After completing six years of intensive training in the UK, she was awarded her RAD RTS from the Royal Academy of Dance.

In Indonesia, Elizabeth went on to build her own Dance School (15 years in operation), and during the last 8 years of operation this Dance School was voted the best in the country.

Since then, Elizabeth immigrated to Canada and became Creative Edge's Ballet teacher. She has been with Creative Edge for 6 years now.

“I am so proud to be part of this fantastic Arts School. This school is great and full of wonderful people.
I am so grateful that I can express my creativity and my ability to my students and I am glad to see their improvements. I love to work for Creative Edge and I hope I can help my students to gain more and more achievements in the future.
Thank you to Mark and Eileen, you are truly great people.”
